It was six years ago when Troy Griffin saw a really good friend get into a car accident.

The only problem is, it hadn’t happened yet …

“I told my friend Diana, ‘I’m concerned about you driving home,’” says 51-year-old Griffin. The accident happened just as Griffin had predicted it. Luckily, no one got seriously hurt.

However, from that moment on, Griffin was no longer able to keep denying what he had always known since the age of 12. Griffin is what some would call a psychic, medium, or clairvoyant- he prefers the term “intuitive”.

Griffin is able to predict what people will say before they even say them, and can also foresee events happening before they actually happen.

He also states that he sees spirits.

Recently, he used his sixth sense on two cases:

A 42-year-old mother of two, named Lora Hale Costner went missing for about three weeks earlier this year in Tennessee and her sister-in-law was understandably frantic and panicking.

Griffin contacted the sister-in-law through Facebook and spoke with her, the sister-in-law then asked Griffin to take on the case and help her find her.

Griffin began examining the general area in which Costner disappeared from on Google Maps. “I see pictures, places and things. I saw the road [where she vanished]. I felt that there was drug use by the victim.”

The psychic then went back to Facebook and closely examined three of Costner’s friends, one woman and two men who he felt had something to do with her disappearance. He documented his findings in a report and sent it to the sister-in-law who then forwarded it to the local police.

“A few hours later, they found the body,” says Griffin. Turns out that a 19-year-old male named McKinley Lane Cody robbed her for her prescription pain medicine and then killed her by hitting her on the back of the head, allegedly. He was indicted for this crime shortly after Griffin’s findings.

Cody was the main “person of interest” for Griffin as soon as he started investigating the case.

In another crime-solving case, he helped the family of a 24-year-old mother of three who was found dead last year by a hiker after having been missing for seven weeks in the Georgia country. Just two months prior to be found dead, she had told her family that “something is going to happen.” It was initially thought by police that she died of a drug overdose but her mother did not believe that and decided to contact Griffin.

After looking at the case, Griffin also did not believe that it was a drug overdose. He looked into the case extensively and had a suspect in mind but before he could prove it was him, Griffin’s suspect got arrested and charged in an unrelated kidnapping, leaving Ashley Jones’ case open without a proper investigation.

Griffin, who considers himself a devout Christian, used to run his own company (converting real estate and medical records into a digital format) but decided to sell it due to his gift of extrasensory perception. He now works full time as a freelance psychic detective. He charges about $90 for a paranormal reading to anyone who wants to communicate with the spirit of their deceased loved ones.

While Griffin dislikes the terms “necromancer” and “sorcerer”, he is ok with being called a ghost whisperer.

“Before I help anyone, I pray,” he says. “After, I also pray.”

Griffin lives with his wife and son in Greenfield Colorado. He harnesses his gift of paranormal insight to find clues that assist in solving cold cases that authorities have been unable to figure out. He really doesn’t get any official credit but he is ok with that. When asked whether he believes he is qualified to interact with the dead and passed on he says he is not sure.

Ask the friends, lovers, and family members of the victim’s he has helped however and they will quickly say that yes, he is. It is a known fact that lately, law enforcement officials will turn to psychics when they have hit a dead end.

The way he stumbles into most of his cases is by scouring the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System database, looking through endless photos of people until he “gets a feeling” about one of them. “They come to me in my dreams. I see people’s faces and I look into their eyes,” he says. “The eyes tell me so much.”

Even though his testimonies are not admissible in court, he has still worked on around 100 cases in Canada, Australia, Germany, and the United States where 99 percent of the time he was unpaid.

“We all need to use our God-given gifts,” says Griffin.

Griffin’s next endeavor is to look into a case that has baffled local police and federal authorities for almost 20 years. The case of the so-called “Gilgo Beach Killer”, who is a serial killer that has never been identified and who is believed to have killed between 10 to 17 people and dumped their remains on Long Island around Gilgo Beach.

“I want to see if I connect with the families, with the victims,” says Griffin.
